The DC Improv knows sometimes it's too hard to travel to see comedy in another city, so we decided to bring that city to you! The DC Improv is proud to host a night of comedy featuring talent straight out of "The City of Brotherly Love". This showcase features some of the best and brightest comics from the Philly region. Leave your cheese steaks home and show off your Philadephia pride..DC Improv style! Comedians scheduled to perform: Chip Chantry - Chip Chantry is a nationally touring comedian and writer. Based in Philadelphia, he produces and hosts the monthly "Chip Chantry's One-Man Show (w/ special guests!)". As a writer, he contributes columns to a variety of comedy blogs. Also an avid reader, Chip is quite smart. He recently read that giraffes can't swim. Did you know that? Chip Chantry did. Check out Chip's website for more info! Chris Coccia - Native Philadelphian Chris Coccia is one of America's busiest comedians -- at home and abroad. Besides being a favorite at America's top clubs like the Improv and Catch a Rising Star, Chris has been called upon to entertain American troops on military bases in Korea, Japan, and Guam. Like many great comedians, Chris' act is based on his life. He culls some of best material from his experiences as a husband and father. Chris has been seen on Comedy Centrals Stand and Deliver as well on Las Vegas' best stages where he has worked as an opening act for (among others) David Sanborn, Chicago, and the Oak Ridge Boys. Recently, Chris Coccia won the Purina pet comedy challenge 2008- http://www.petcomedychallenge.com/ and was a finalist at the inaugural Great American Comedy Festival in Norfork, NE hosted by Eddie Brill. John Kensil - has made appearances on CAROLINES COMEDY HOUR, ESPN, GOOD MORNING AMERICA, FOX MORNING SHOW, COMEDY CENTRAL. COMCAST SPORTS NETWORK. JOHN BEGAN HIS COMEDY CAREER AS A JOKE WRITER FOR RADIO PERSONALITIES THEN WROTE FOR JAY LENO AND JOAN RIVERS. JOHN HAS BEEN ENTERTAINING AUDIENCES WITH HIS APTLY TITLED " JOHN KENSIL SHOW" A SARCASTIC TAKEOFF ON THE OLD DEAN MARTIN SHOW WITH JOHN AS HOST AND A CAST OF OFFBEAT CHARACTER COMEDIANS DROPPING IN. JOHN ENTERED THE STAND UP COMEDY ARENA WHILE ATTENDING TEMPLE UNIVERSITY. HIS HUMOR STYLE CAN BEST BE DESCRIBED AS TAKING AN ORDINARY SITUATION AND CREATING A TWISTED VIEW ON IT. Chris performs all over the East Coast, but started his comedy career at The Laff House in Philadelphia. His set topics tend to include pop culture, current events and growin' up in da' city.
